1. Measure the finished opening height, width and depth at the top, middle and bottom; full-height openings are rarely square.
2. Record the cutout depth separately from the cabinet run. A 25-inch cutout will not fit a standard 24-inch run without modification.
3. Decide standard overlay versus flush inset before measuring; the same appliance needs a different opening in each case.
4. For two columns side by side, use the manufacturer's published dual-opening figure and confirm the dual installation kit. Do not add two single openings together.
5. Confirm panel and handle selection, door swing and the adjacent wall or corner clearance.
6. Have the installer confirm electrical supply, water supply where fitted, and structural support for a full-height cabinet.

Take measurements from the reference points shown in the manufacturer’s drawing. A body measurement is not an opening requirement. Do not use one model’s diagram to establish another model’s fit.
